To the call to prayer drifting over rooftops, mint tea poured from a height, orange trees in courtyards you'd never find without someone showing you the door. This is Scents and Sounds: six days built around everything this city does to your senses the moment you stop rushing through it.
You'll stay in a private riad near the medina, rooftop terrace looking out over the old city, with its own pool, hammam and spa. Some days are left open, read up there, or take a proper Secrets of the Souks tour with someone who actually knows the medina. Others are built around one thing worth doing properly: an evening with Marrakech's storytellers, a tradition most visitors never get near. Afternoon tea at the Royal Mansour. A full day out in the Agafay, hammam, massage, dinner under the stars.
You don't need to be in a book club to be here. Some of you will arrive with a group chat full of theories about the same book. Some with one book and no one to talk to about it yet. Both belong. On your last full day, everyone sits down together to talk about whatever you've been reading.

Day by Day
Palazzo Montefiore
The story begins with hidden luxury and getting to know your fellow readers.
Arrival: Complimentary transfers to our riad to settle in and relax by the courtyard plunge pool.
Evening: A themed "Book That Made You Fall in Love with Reading" welcome dinner.
Our Riad
A deliberately slow, unstructured day to anchor yourself in the space.
Daytime: No itinerary to follow. Just the riad, the courtyard, the terrace, and time to read, rest and relax.
Evening: We step out into the medina for an elegant, non-Moroccan dinner (venue surprises await!) for a change of scenery.
The medina
Moving from quiet reflection to the vibrant pulse of the city.
Morning: A slow start to read and recharge.
Afternoon: A curated "Secrets of the Souks" guided tour covering tanneries, communal bread ovens, and artisans, followed by a genuinely local lunch.
Evening: A private, traditional storytelling experience followed by dinner at the riad.
Agafay desert
The signature chapter: trading the medina for the elemental beauty of the desert.
Afternoon: Transfer to a private desert camp for swimming, resting, and a traditional hammam experience in the soft afternoon light.
Evening: Camel rides or quad biking across the rocky Agafay landscape. We'll close the night with a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars and a mesmerizing fire dancing performance.
Rooftop & Royal Mansour
Deep literary discussions and a luxurious final gathering.
Morning: Our core book discussions hosted on the riad's sunlit rooftop or courtyard.
Afternoon: A lavish Afternoon Tea at the iconic Royal Mansour.
Evening: Our Farewell Gala back at the riad. We'll start with sunset canapés on the rooftop before sitting down for our final celebratory dinner together.
Palazzo Montefiore
A peaceful, no-rush departure to close the book on Marrakesh.
Stay by the pool until the last possible moment. Transfers whenever your flight is. We promised no rush, so no rush.
Trip Notes
Twelve rooms across the riad, a mix of doubles and suites. Solo occupancy and suite upgrades confirmed once the buyout is finalised.
One checked bag plus hand luggage. Medina lanes are narrow, so a hard shell with good wheels earns its keep.
UK passport holders do not need a visa for stays under 90 days. Your passport must have six months validity.
March in Marrakech runs 20–24°C by day and cools sharply after dark. The Agafay evening is genuinely cold — bring a proper layer.
The Agafay day occasionally shifts by 24 hours for weather. Everything else runs from the riad, so the week holds its shape.

Is there a waitlist?
Yes. Join to be notified the moment booking opens and to get first access before spaces are shared more widely.
What happens if the cohort doesn't reach its minimum?
Holding deposits are returned in full. Nothing becomes non-refundable until the retreat is officially green lit.
Do I have to do the reading?
No. The book is an invitation, not homework. Plenty of people come for the riad and the quiet.
Can I come solo?
Most guests do. Solo, or with the one friend who loves to read.
Am I responsible for my own flights?
Yes. We recommend booking as soon as your place is confirmed, and the Ticketing Desk can find the right fare.
Are dietary requirements catered for?
Yes. You will receive a preference sheet ahead of the retreat and the riad kitchen is briefed in advance.
